This music video was produced as simple exercise for the One Life film team. We challenged ourselves to wake up early in an effort to shot before and through golden hour. Kudos to the team for getting up before the crack dawn for five days to shoot on some very chilly mornings.
To be honest we sort of approached this project in an unconventional way. We decided to shoot first and create the story later. Normally folks work from a script (my preferred method). I’m not sure why we chose to do it this way, but we sort of guessed at a story structure and ran with it. The biggest challenge of not having a script was trying to direct actors, and get emotion for a story that was only a concept. I must say Jenève Dubé and Chris Neal did an amazing job. They took what little direction I gave them and delivered above and beyond. The collaborative process they brought to the table really helped give this project a certain mood.
We may have lost some sleep, but we did get some great footage. Ultimately this footage will be used in a story that’s currently in production. However, I threw this edit together so the team could see how the visuals are coming together. On top of that I just did a gear review of Zacuto’s Recoil for DSLR’s. All of this footage was shot with that rig.
