Courthouse Creative Co-op
telling an emotional story
Although design is not exactly an emotional topic I think it’s key to tell the “why” behind what we do. My goal in this sixty second spot is to simply define what design is and why we are so passionate about it.
My favorite definition of design is: problem solving. Design in its most simple definition is problem solving. This can be addressed in a voice over at the beginning of the spot and then we can jump into why design is so important to the CCC. We care about quality, communicating a message with meaning and helping improve our community.
My approach to this story, less is more. I believe the script should be simple and the visuals can drive home the emotion. This spot will not tell the whole story of the CCC, but will be used to create interest and intrigue. This, in turn, will drive people to our website and social media feeds.
The Journey
My initial idea for a story is to show a day in the life of the CCC. This would start with a montage following several of the team members commuting into the Courthouse. This would be following Rachel on her bike down a picturesque Evansville street. Then a drone shot of the Courthouse as Lauren enters. We would also include a couple of interiors. A hallway shot of Hannah and Lauren walking up the stairway.
The next scene brings the audience in to the CCC world. It would begin with following Matt over the shoulder walking into the office. Nick would be working at his desk and greet Matt as he enters.
From this point we can show a series of visuals highlighting our work space. People working around the light table, meeting in the lounge, and someone working at their computer.
The next scene would highlight our work. I think a great way to do this is to have the camera from a bird’s eye view looking straight down on printed designs laying on the conference table. This could be shot in a stop motion style. The prints would be stacked one top of each other and someone could remove the top layer one print at a time to reveal the next amazing design.
The final shot would be on of the team locking up at night. The door would close catching the glass with the CCC logo on the window.
Script
Design in its simplest form is problem solving. Whether it’s how to fix mass transportation all the way to communicating a brand’s story…design helps solve problems.
The Courthouse Creative Co-op exists to help solve problems in a creative way. We want to help clients and our community improve through the avenue of creative design.
